Olšany combines cultural history with landscapes and active routes. The village is home to Dvůr Doubravice, which represents the history of the nobility and agriculture; at the same time, the Moravská stezka cycling route passes through Olšany. A hiking trail also leads from Olšany to the chapel on the Olšanské hory hills. Březná Nature Park extends partly across the cadastral territory of Olšany nad Moravou. This gives you a range of options for planning your trip: historic architecture, religious sites, cycling and nature.

Dvůr Doubravice and the history of Olšany

Dvůr Doubravice includes a manor house or small château, as well as agricultural buildings. The complex illustrates aristocratic administration and the rural economy during the Renaissance and Baroque periods. The eastern part is listed among the cultural monuments of the Czech Republic. In 2024, the southeast wing was declared a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. This wing consists of the former manor house, the stables and the coach house. The site can therefore be explored not only through a representative building, but also through its agriculturally oriented structures.

Olšany's industrial history includes a factory for producing cigarette paper, founded in 1862 on the site of a former mill. The village's history thus encompasses not only château and religious buildings, but also industrial development.

Chapels and traditional stories

Several chapels give the surrounding area its own distinctive historical character. The Chapel of Saint Martin on the Olšanské hory hills was built in the 1930s and consecrated in 1936. An inscription on the Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius records the orally transmitted belief that Cyril and Methodius preached and baptised at this site around the year 865. The chapel stands above a water spring; a descending stone staircase with a stone surround leads to it. In Olšany, the chapel is listed near the youth home.
