Janoušov lies on the southern edge of the Hrubý les. The village combines the Janoušovský Circuit with chapels, traditional houses and other monuments. The northern part of the municipal area rises above 700 m. This gives the village a clear focus for travellers who want to combine nature experiences and regional history in a manageable destination.

Landscape and hiking trails around Janoušov

The Janoušovský Circuit, an approximately 9.5 km long blue-marked hiking route, is the main attraction. Several information boards and signposts accompany the circular trail. At its highest point, it reaches 845 m and offers views of the Jeseníky Mountains. Most of the route runs along forest paths; shorter sections follow asphalt and partly dirt roads. The route is considered suitable for families with children, making it possible to combine a shared outdoor experience with a cultural tour of the village.

A green-marked hiking trail also passes through Janoušov. A tourist shelter was built near the centre for passing hikers and day-trippers.

Chapels, monuments and regional history

A chapel dedicated to Saint Anne in Janoušov dates from 1882. More recent construction history includes a wooden chapel built in 2015–2016 and blessed on 24 July by the Bishop of Olomouc, Mons. Josef Hrdlička. Inside it is a large wooden crucifix with the body of Christ on the cross. A small bell tower sits at the top and is crowned with a cross. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk was declared a cultural monument by a decision dated 15 February 2012.

The secular and local past is also present in the village landscape. Janoušov’s historic cottage industries included the production of brushes and rakes, weaving baskets from willow branches, making birch brooms and sewing on thread buttons. Several traditional timber-framed houses have been preserved. A wooden statue depicts the presumed founder or locator of the settlement.

The monument to the world wars stands on a slope near the municipal office. It consists of a polished granite stele with plaques bearing the names of those killed and missing in the First and Second World Wars, and was unveiled in 1921. Another historic landmark is the cross with Our Lady of Sorrows from the first half of the 19th century. It combines classical forms with continuing Baroque design elements.

Choosing Janoušov as a travel destination

This creates two closely connected but distinct focal points for travel planning: the Janoušovský Circuit follows forest, asphalt and partly dirt roads up to 845 m, while the chapels, cottage industries, wooden houses and monuments establish the village itself as a destination for culturally minded exploration. Access is via a turn-off to Bušín from the Šumperk–Červená Voda road. Janoušov therefore combines hiking with the exploration of chapels, cottage industries, wooden houses and monuments.
