Discover Dubicko
Accommodation in Dubicko
Dubicko combines historical landmarks, local events and the natural surroundings of the artificial Lake Hosena. Here you can discover cultural history, plan an afternoon of sports for children, learn about a 9.5-kilometre hiking event and explore the lake’s distinctive character with its shoreline. This makes it possible to enjoy a stay where different interests exist side by side, without having to commit to just one way of experiencing the area.
Cultural History with Medieval Traces
A prominent part of Dubicko’s history is the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. It has a medieval core and a bell dating from 1476. Another historical testament is the reconciliation cross in Dubicko. It illustrates criminal law as it developed in the Middle Ages and continued into the early modern period. Smaller monuments are also part of the village landscape: the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dates from 1889. The cube-shaped wayside shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi stands on the left side of the road to Hrabová. In Dubicko, you therefore encounter various forms of historical remembrance – from a church and a legal monument to religious statues and shrines.
Events for Different Interests
The 12th DUBIÁDA is an afternoon of sports for children at the multipurpose sports ground behind the Sokol clubhouse in Dubicko. For families with children, this provides a specific event that clearly differs from the village’s historical themes. The “Pochod ke sv. Josefu” is a 9.5-kilometre hiking event in Dubicko. The stated distance provides clear guidance if you would like to consider a hiking event with a set length.
Dubicko also hosts the “Dubický míčový čtyřboj dvojic” competition. Masopust is another local tradition. It includes a masked procession that ends with the symbolic burial of the double bass. During Masopust, participants are also offered specialities made from slaughtered meat and hot drinks. The event therefore combines a visible custom with culinary elements, while the DUBIÁDA and the hiking event represent other forms of shared activity.
Lake Hosena and Its Distinctive Natural Environment
The artificial Lake Hosena contains an island planted with oak, ash and birch trees. The northeastern shore of Lake Hosena is a shallow habitat for aquatic organisms. These two features draw attention both to the design of the island and to the ecological distinctiveness of a specific shoreline area. The Dubicko municipal fishing association uses the Hosena fishing grounds. It also organises fishing competitions for children and adults. Lake Hosena is therefore not only one of Dubicko’s natural attractions, but is also connected with local activities centred around fishing.
