Šléglov lies in a small valley carved by the Staříč stream into the upland of the foothills of the Rychlebské hory; the Staříč rises there. The landscape, viewpoints and history dating back to the Middle Ages shape the locality. Šléglov has been documented in historical records since 1325.

History and Stone Monuments

In the 16th century, Šléglov appears again in records concerning settlements administered by Kolštejn Castle in Branná. After the wartime turmoil of the Hussite and Bohemian-Hungarian Wars, the locality was probably abandoned; documents described it as deserted. Its mining history is associated with crushing and grinding gold-bearing ores.

Below Dvorský vrch stands the Calvary group as a sandstone column beside a disused path. It contains a relief of Mary Magdalene with a vessel for fragrant ointment. The group also includes a crucifix and figures of the Virgin Mary and Saint John.

Chapel, Views and Cycle Routes

The Řeznická Chapel is located above Šléglov near Staré Město in the Šumperk District. A blue-marked hiking trail passes it between Branná and Staré Město pod Sněžníkem. The chapel offers views of the Králický Sněžník and Hrubý Jeseník mountain ranges.

For cycle planning, two route lengths can be clearly distinguished: Cycle Route 9 in the Staré Město area is approximately 28 kilometres long, runs along roads and paved asphalt paths, and passes through Šléglov. A cycling tour reaches Vikantice after 2.3 kilometres and connects there to Cycle Route 53. This allows you to include a longer route and a short connecting tour separately in your planning. The two figures help with planning different cycling stages: the approximately 28 kilometres of Cycle Route 9 form a longer route section, while the 2.3 kilometres to Vikantice can be classified as a short connection to Cycle Route 53. This makes it possible to consider the cycling tour according to the available time frame and desired route length, without combining the two routes into a single route.

Landscape and Natural Environment

Šléglov's landscape features include sightlines and viewpoints. In the wider regional surroundings, the Králický Sněžník Bird Protection Area protects the corn crake (Crex crex) and its habitat in extensively managed meadows. Šléglov is associated with this Natura 2000 bird protection area as a local environmental asset.

At 798 metres, Kutný vrch is the highest point in the cadastral area of Šléglov and is associated with a documented mining history. The geology includes a wall quarry operated for aggregate used in bunkers. Fine-grained, massive, greenish dark-grey amphibolite occurs there, containing garnet visible in places.
