The Church of Divine Providence and historical evidence

The Church of Divine Providence in Šenov was built in 1764. As a protected cultural monument, it is listed under registration number ÚSKP 37271/8-720 and has been protected since 3 May 1958. This gives it a clearly documented historical profile that is revealed by more than just its year of construction.

One entrance is located on the eastern side. Inside are four bas-reliefs of the former owners of the Šenov estate. Details such as these give the church its own narrative dimension and make it interesting for travellers who want to learn not only about a building during a visit to the area, but also about its historical connections. The Mission Cross “Kříž Misijní” from 1928 also stands by the church. Another testament to the region’s history is the cross at the crossroads to Datyně, “Kříž na rozcestí k Datyním”. It dates from 1864 and is attributed to Franz Blažek.

Museum between the Old School and the “Stodola”

The Šenov Museum documents the history of Šenov and its surroundings. A permanent exhibition is housed in the Old School building. The “Stodola” also contains an exhibition of tools, equipment, implements and aids that earlier generations needed and used. The two exhibition focuses have different emphases: while the permanent exhibition presents the historical context of the town, the “Stodola” focuses on specific objects from earlier working and everyday life.

Zámecký Park: Size and variety of woody plants

Zámecký Park covers approximately 3 hectares. Since 1999, it has been a cultural monument because of its historical and dendrological value. The park is home to 53 species of trees and woody plants. For travel planning, this represents a distinctly different focus from the church or museum: here, the emphasis is on the combination of a historic park and the documented diversity of its trees and woody plants.

Volenský Pond and the nature of water

Volenský Pond is the largest pond in Šenov. It provides suitable conditions for aquatic and wetland organisms. These include birds, gull colonies that regularly nest on the island, amphibians and invertebrates. The pond complements the cultural sights with a clearly defined natural aspect, where the focus is not on a single attraction but on the importance of the habitat.

Educational trail starting and ending at Radniční náměstí

The Šenov Educational Trail begins and ends at Radniční náměstí. An information board with a map of the entire route is located in the same square. It helps visitors find their way. Having the same starting and ending point makes the square an easy-to-understand reference point for exploring the educational trail, without requiring any additional information about the length or course of individual sections.
