Čavisov – Forest Landscape, Cycling Routes and Regional Discoveries
Čavisov combines a forested landscape with cycling routes and a marked hiking trail, a historic cultural landmark, a local event date and a connection to Ostrava. The Vítkovská vrchovina shapes the landscape setting, while specific routes lead through the municipality and its surroundings. The chapel, pond and sports ground complete the picture with fixed destinations for culture, events and routes.
Landscape between the Vítkovská vrchovina and the Porubka Valley
Čavisov lies in the forested Vítkovská vrchovina. This landscape is part of the Nízký Jeseník. The Vítkovská vrchovina is therefore part of a larger landscape area, the Nízký Jeseník. Čavisov also belongs to the recreational area of the Porubka Valley.
Cycling in several directions
Cycling route No. 6140 runs from Kyjovice through the built-up part of Čavisov. At the municipal office, it turns off and then follows road III/46610 towards Mezihoří. The route thus connects the section from the direction of Kyjovice with a section through the municipality and the onward route to Mezihoří. The turn-off at the municipal office marks the change from the built-up area to the section along road III/46610.
Cycling route No. 6199 runs through the northeastern part of the Čavisov area. It comes from the direction of Dolní Lhota and continues towards Vřesina.
Hiking and the Čavisovská stovka
A marked blue hiking route also runs through the Čavisov area. Route No. 2273 supplements the two cycling routes with a designated hiking trail. The blue marking and route number 2273 identify this section as a hiking route. In addition, the Čavisovská stovka starts and finishes at the TJ Sokol sports ground in Čavisov. For this event, the start and finish are therefore at the same sports ground.
Chapel and a dated event
The historic chapel of Čavisov is the Chapel of St. Martin. It adds a religious landmark in the municipality to the landscape and route features.
On 5 September 2026, the Myslivecké odpoledne event will take place at Stavy Pond (“na Hrázce”). The programme includes competitions for children and adults, a prize wheel, air-rifle shooting and a virtual hunting shooting range. Game specialities and refreshments will also be available throughout the day.
Connection to Ostrava
Tram line 5 connects Čavisov with Ostrava. It therefore provides a different point of connection from the routes to Mezihoří, Vřesina or Dolní Lhota: while the cycling routes lead in various directions through the area, the tram provides a connection to the city of Ostrava. Thus, landscape trails, the sports ground, the pond and the urban connection are among the specifically described facets of Čavisov.
Other places you may wish to consider for your search and comparison of the surrounding area include Stará Ves Nad Ondřejnicí, Zbyslavice, Klimkovice, Dolní Lhota, Vřesina, Václavovice, Ostrava and Šenov.
