Vendryně combines impressive cultural heritage with trails that can be explored over different lengths of day. Here you can discover a Gothic church, restored lime kilns, signposted cycling paths and circular routes through nature. This creates a destination where a cultural visit can be combined with a short hike, a longer day trip or an excursion by bicycle.

Circular Trails and Lime Kilns as Special Experiences

The Vápenné pece are located 2 km from the Vendryně railway stop; from there, a green hiking trail leads to them. The two restored Vápenné pece allow visitors to learn about the history of this area and provide a place for recreation. They thus represent a connection between regional history and time spent outdoors. For different hiking plans, the “Za krásami vendryňské přírody” trail offers two independent circular routes. The two sections are approximately 10 km and 22 km long, respectively. They can be walked separately as half-day hikes or together as a full-day tour. Those who prefer a shorter loop therefore have an alternative to combining both routes; the approximate lengths remain clearly distinct.

Cycling with Regional Connections

Vendryně also offers cyclists a distinct thematic point of interest. The Vendryňský kotár cycling route, ceremonially opened and reconstructed on May 10, 2008, is signposted with information boards. The Vendryňský kotár cycling race for children and adults is held annually along the route for the mayor’s cup. In addition to its signage, the race gives the route a recurring sporting tradition and appeals to different age groups.

Church, Bell and Baroque Cross

Kostel sv. Kateřiny is a single-nave, masonry church in the Gothic style. A special detail lies in its history: the tower contained an unusually shaped bell, probably cast in the mid-15th century by the bell founder Hans Freudenthal. A Baroque cross from 1790 also stands in the nearby cemetery of Kostel sv. Kateřiny. Together, these details give a visit to the church several historical points of reference without reducing the site to a single building. The “Wopiynky” are also part of the local past. These were lime kilns in which limestone quarried in Vendryně was processed. Those interested in the development of the village and its craft-related traces will find another point of access here, alongside the church and cycling route.

Visit to the Pamětní síň obce Vendryně

The Pamětní síň obce Vendryně has irregular opening hours and can be visited by prior arrangement. A regular visit lasts 30 to 45 minutes. This provides a clearly defined time window for planning your day, while the visit should be arranged in advance because of the irregular opening hours. In this way, the memorial site complements the trails, lime kilns and sacred heritage with another opportunity to get to know Vendryně at first hand. If you would like to compare other places in addition to Vendryně, you can also find Dobratice, Sedliště Ve Slezsku, Bukovec U Jablunkova, Baška, Žermanice, Navsi, Jablunkov and Třanovice.
