Sedliště Ve Slezsku is a destination for travelers who want to combine wooden architecture, regional history, a viewpoint and a documented cycling route. The All Saints Church, Bezručova Viewpoint and the Lašská jizba Museum are particularly characteristic. They represent different ways of getting to know the town: historic architecture, views of the landscape, active exploration and insights into the history of Sedliště.

The All Saints Wooden Church

The All Saints Wooden Church is one of the best-preserved and oldest wooden churches in the Těšín region. The present building was erected in 1638 on the site of an older wooden church dating from 1447. A striking architectural feature is the covered gallery that runs all the way around the church and is known as the “sobota.”

For visits, it is important to distinguish between the exterior and interior: the exterior of the church is accessible year-round. The interior can be visited outside liturgical services as part of the “Otevřené chrámy” project from June to October. This makes it possible to plan a church visit differently depending on the time of year and the desired focus, without overlooking the applicable access conditions.

Viewpoint, Event and Cycling Route

Bezručova Viewpoint is located on the summit of Černá zem hill at an elevation of 374 m above sea level. From there, the views extend across the Ostrava area. The viewpoint also has a car park for approximately 20 cars. For a stay planned around a specific event date, Saturday, September 12, 2026, is relevant: on that day, the Lašské slavnosti festival takes place at Bezručova Viewpoint.

The “Za dřevěnými unikáty Česka” cycling trip first leads to the All Saints Wooden Church in Sedliště and then to Bezručova Viewpoint. As a designated cycling stage, it connects two different stops: the historic wooden church with its covered gallery running all the way around it and the viewpoint on the summit of Černá zem hill. The route therefore follows a specific sequence of architectural heritage and landscape views; both destinations lie along the same cycling route.

Lašská jizba and Historic Memorial Sites

The Lašská jizba Museum presents an ethnographic and historical exhibition on the history of Sedliště and local associations. The museum also includes a historic library focusing on Laško culture. Those who want to learn about regional traditions and the development of the town in addition to its architecture will find a distinct cultural focus here.

Another historical point of reference is the “Osvobozené půdě” memorial, unveiled on September 4, 1932. Together with the wooden church and the museum, it reveals different layers of time and remembrance in Sedliště.
