Mountain Landscapes and Beskid Culture in Krásná

Krásná lies in a landscape shaped by the Beskids. Most of the cadastral territory lies within the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area. At the same time, the history of the place reaches further back: Krásná’s origins are linked to the Wallachian colonization of the Beskids. Here, natural surroundings and regional history come together—two aspects that can play an important role when choosing accommodation and planning excursions together.

Visalaje on the Watershed

Visalaje is a particularly distinctive part of the municipality. The mountain settlement lies in the Zadní hory mountains in the Moravian-Silesian Beskids at an elevation of 800 m. It is situated on the watershed of the Morávka and Mohelnice rivers and is administratively part of Krásná. Visalaje has numerous hiking and cycling trails. In winter, you will find cross-country ski trails there, as well as a ski area with numerous lifts and slopes. This means that your stay can be tailored differently depending on the season, without losing sight of the area’s connection to the landscape.

Near the Visalaje recreation centre lies the Obidová natural monument. It contains valuable Beskid peat meadows (sihlen) in a shallow depression below the ridge, located in the source area of the Sihelský potok stream. This specific landscape area complements the larger mountain panoramas with a protected habitat of its own character.

Lysá hora and the Surrounding Mountains

The summit of Lysá hora lies on the boundary of the municipalities of Krásná, Malenovice, Ostravice and Staré Hamry. A road from Krásná leads to the bare summit. There you will find a distinctive telecommunications transmitter, a meteorological station and several mountain huts. The mountains of Kyčera, Kykulka, Travný and Malchor also lie in the vicinity of Krásná. For planning your excursions, this summit area therefore offers a specific mountain destination with distinctive technical structures and several mountain huts.

Winter Sports and an 11-km Circular Trail

In addition to Visalaje, Zlatník also offers several ski slopes and lifts. In the southern part, in the direction of Vyšní Mohelnice, lies the Ski Zlatník-Fela ski area. For the warmer months, the Krásný výlet Krásnou circular trail offers another way to explore the surroundings: The route is 11 km long and begins and ends at the Krásná–Zlatník car park. Its fixed length and clearly designated start and finish make it easier to choose if you are looking for a circular route rather than an open-ended itinerary for your trip. At 11 km, the loop remains manageable, while the fixed start and finish support planning a complete day of hiking.
