Žermanice
Accommodation in Žermanice
Žermanice between the Reservoir and Riverside Paths
Žermanice is a gateway to the recreational area of the Žermanická Reservoir. Those who want to combine a waterscape, excursions and regional discoveries during their stay will find a specific starting point here for further planning. The Žermanická Reservoir is used for recreational purposes and was built between 1951 and 1958. Žermanický lom is an abandoned, currently flooded and partially backfilled teschenite quarry. Local cycling routes also run along the shore in the vicinity of Žermanice. This makes it particularly easy to plan your choice of location around a stay in which the reservoir and its surroundings play an important role.
A Waterscape with a Special Natural Feature
Particularly striking is the secondary wetland that developed there, home to protected plant and animal species. Numerous amphibians reproduce in the pools of Žermanický lom. This combination makes Žermanický lom an independent nature topic alongside the recreational landscape of the reservoir: the wetland, protected species and amphibians are the focus here.
This combination of waterscape and wetland gives the surroundings a range of different natural features. When making your choice, you can therefore consider not only the water as a recreational area, but also the distinctive history of the landscape and the animal and plant life documented there.
Planning Excursions with an Important Current Notice
Azyl & FaunaPark Blondies offers guided tours with commentary lasting 1 to 2 hours. Afterwards, participants can visit the entire fauna park freely; the visit is thus divided into a guided and a free phase. On request, themed guided tours with commentary are available on poultry and waterfowl, pheasants and running birds such as ostriches. Other tours cover rabbits, rodents and cattle, as well as ruminants such as horses and sheep. On request, themed tours of turtles and small predators such as meerkats, mongooses and raccoons are also available. The park offers children the opportunity to try out what tasks animal care involves for an animal keeper.
However, the following is decisive for your specific planning: Azyl & FaunaPark Blondies has been closed until further notice since 1 July 2026 due to illness and construction work. The documented guided-tour and family offerings should therefore not be understood as a programme currently accessible to visitors. Check before travelling whether this status has changed.
Chapel and Regional Culture
The Chapel of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is also one of the cultural impressions worth mentioning. Its reconstruction improved the technical condition and appearance of the building. The chapel also hosted an Advent concert with the Permoník mixed choir from Karviná. The reconstruction and the concert represent different focal points: one concerns the condition and appearance of the building, while the other was a musical event.
