Fryčovice has a distinctive geographical character: the village lies on both banks of the Ondřejnice River. This creates a varied setting for a stay, where culture, cycling, walks and relaxation can be combined in different ways.

Church and Local Heritage

A significant cultural landmark is the stone Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. It was built between 1335 and 1345 and is the oldest stone church building in the Frýdek-Místek District. It is also a protected cultural monument. Those who want to get to know Fryčovice not only as a starting point for activities but also through its history will find a clear connection to the village’s past here.

Local events can also add a lively, traditional dimension to a stay. A traditional Easter market in Fryčovice, held on a Thursday, 6 April, from 4 p.m. on the Náves in the village centre, featured cimbalom music, children’s workshops, the braiding of Easter whips and an Easter Bunny with a basket full of sweets for children. The market also included the sale of Easter decorations and refreshments provided by local organisations. With children’s workshops and an Easter Bunny with sweets for children, the market featured two explicitly child-focused activities.

Cycling and Hiking Around Sovinec

For active days, Cycling Route No. 6006 provides a clear point of orientation: it runs along existing roads from south to north through the centre of Fryčovice. The marked Cycling Route No. 6006 also forms the Olešná–Hukvaldy–Brušperk–Olešná circuit and passes through Fryčovice.

Another perspective is offered by the Obora Sovinec educational trail, intended for recreational hiking. It leads from the centre of Fryčovice westwards to the Sovinec Game Reserve and onwards to the neighbouring villages of Kateřinice and Trnávka.

At 354 m, Sovinec is the highest point in Fryčovice. The elevation currently serves as a game reserve where a herd of white-tailed deer is kept. For visitors, this creates a distinctly different destination from a historical sightseeing trip: here, the landscape and observation of the animals kept there are the main focus.

Relaxation and Sport at the FRY Relax Centrum

The FRY Relax Centrum complements the routes and sights with options for exercise and relaxation. The centre includes a relaxation pool with two counter-current systems, a water jet and a whirlpool feature. There is also a squash court with a glass back wall and a spectator area. The spectator area at the squash court also makes it possible to watch games.

The badminton court is also available to the general public. Visitors to the FRY Relax Centrum can cool off in an outdoor pool after using the sauna. Thus, alongside the cycling route, educational trail and cultural monument, Fryčovice also offers concrete opportunities for sport, water-based activities and rest.
