Kruh between the Foothills and Cultural Heritage

Kruh is a foothill municipality with scattered development. Its elongated settlement structure follows the Kružský potok and the class III road between Roztoky u Jilemnice, Kruh and Mříčná. At an elevation of 410 to 480 metres, the village lies in a very elongated, relatively enclosed area with nearby visual and terrain horizons. Cinema and Village History

Kino Kruh has existed since 1924 and was then part of a cinema system in the First Republic. It is considered a small village cinema and one of the few remaining institutions of its kind against the backdrop of the decline of rural cinemas. After digitisation in December 2016, the cinema received a larger screen and a 7.1 sound system; the auditorium is also heated. Thus, early cinema culture and later technical modernisation stand side by side in the same local history. In Kruh, an unusual piece of village cultural history is therefore part of the local character.

Farmsteads, Archaeological Site and Advent Season

The Tvrziště u čp. 67 archaeological site lies on a triangular spur above Kružský potok and comprises two masonry buildings. Tuláčkův statek provides a different point of interest: this impressive timber-built farmstead has a Baroque gable and was formerly the seat of a factor. Statek čp. 1 is an example of late Baroque folk architecture in the Podkrkonoší region, with a typical log construction and decorated gables.

The traditional Adventní podvečer has been held regularly in Kruh at the end of November since 2007. The programme includes, among other things, exhibitions of nativity scenes and old baking moulds. This event complements the buildings and archaeological sites with a recurring occasion in the annual calendar. Water and Mountains

Koupaliště Kruh is located in the centre of Kruh u Jilemnice. It has an artificial pool filled with drinking water. The playground adds opportunities for children to be active, while the snack stand, changing rooms and toilets structure the breaks during a day trip.
