Bratříkov is characterised by memorial sites, historic farmsteads and distinctive landscape features. Here you can discover the Freedom Monument on the small square, the Žernovník stream and the U Lavičky Lookout Point; the village’s history also includes the historic Pirochův Quarry. This makes the village particularly suitable for anyone who wants to combine a stay in the Czech Republic with specific cultural discoveries and scenic destinations.

Memorial culture on the small square

The Freedom Monument, featuring a bust of T. G. Masaryk, was unveiled on Bratříkov’s small square on 14 August 1919. It was created through a public collection and later supplemented with the names of the men from Bratříkov who had fallen in the First World War. The monument is one of the first of its kind in the Republic and was the first in the Semily District. Its location and origins make it a tangible way of accessing the village’s history, rather than merely a generally designated memorial.

Bratříkov’s older history is also still present. Historically, the village belonged to the estate administered from Návarov Castle. Another testimony to the past is the historic farmstead, later known as U Zámečníků or Na Rychtě. Both names refer to this preserved farmstead on the village’s main road. In 1812, three sandstone statues were installed there: Saint Peter, Saint Paul and the Good Shepherd. The farmstead, with the statues standing beside it, has survived on the main road to this day and invites tourists and travellers to stop and take a look.

Other cultural and historical details include the Trnka farmstead with its Baroque sculptural group and a memorial lime tree estimated to be 300 years old. The local community context also offers a noteworthy insight for families with children of different ages: at T. J. Sokol Bratříkov, all-round athletic training is offered as a sports activity for preschool children and school pupils.

Lookout point, stream and historic landscape

The Žernovník stream flows through Bratříkov. The U Lavičky Lookout Point lies above Bratříkov. From there, you can look out over Černá Studnice, Bratříkov and Skalička–Hamrštice. The best way to reach the U Lavičky Lookout Point is from Kostřavec Hill via Dolence in the direction of Loužnice.

The Pirochův Quarry is also connected with the village’s history. It was located in Štebrov, a part of Bratříkov, in a valley between the slopes of Bratříkov and Těpeře. Its connection with Štebrov and its location between the two slopes give this historic landscape feature a clearly defined place in the surrounding area. The stream, the lookout point, the preserved farmsteads and this historic landscape feature represent different facets of the village’s history and landscape.

Another destination is Dolní Cerná Studnice.
