Dolní Vidim – Rock Formations, Village Culture and Cycling Route 0012

Dolní Vidim lies in the valley and is the part of Vidim primarily focused on recreation. Its distinctive character is shaped by the sandstone bedrock, historic village houses and unusual traces of earlier use: carved cellars, rock dwellings and the modest remains of a rock castle probably founded in the 13th century. Starý zámek and the Traces of the Rock Castle

Starý zámek lies directly on the blue-marked hiking route and about 50 metres from Cycling Route No. 0012. This clearly integrates the site into the local trail network without reducing its history to a mere date. The rock niche chapel is also located directly on the blue-marked hiking route and on Cycling Route No. 0012. Its surroundings are well maintained; there are seats nearby for resting and quiet reflection.

Bell Tower and Cycling Route through Dolní Vidim

The wooden bell tower is located about 300 metres from the blue- and green-marked hiking trails and directly on Cycling Route No. 0012. It is operational and in very good technical condition; its surroundings are also well maintained.

Cycling Route No. 0012 passes through Dolní Vidim, runs mainly along Class III roads and connects the village with Dobřeň to the east. This provides a concrete basis for choosing the style of outing: you can treat the village as one section of a cycling tour or combine the cultural and historical sites with a hike along the marked trails. Craft Traditions at House No. 78

Another side of Dolní Vidim is represented by the Koniklec Ecocentre in the House of Extinct Crafts, House No. 78. The “Zaniklá řemesla” programme is offered there.
