Sobesovice on the Žermanice Reservoir
Accommodation in Sobesovice
Soběšovice lies on the right bank of the Žermanice Reservoir and combines water-based activities with marked trails, viewpoints and local history. Those who want to keep different ideas for each day of their stay open will find a place here where activities on the reservoir, a hiking or cycling tour and a cultural stop can be combined.
Swimming Area and Water Sports at the Reservoir
The VN Žermanice–Soběšovice swimming area is located below the “Pod Husarůvkou” campsite and other adjacent leisure facilities. A grassy beach and the gently sloping entry into the water characterize this spot. Water sports available on the Žermanice Reservoir include windsurfing and yachting. Seasonal fishing also takes place at the reservoir; the fishing season begins there every spring. The range of activities by the water thus extends from sporting activity to a seasonal pastime connected with the reservoir.
At the VN Žermanice–Soběšovice swimming area, pedal boats and small boats can be rented. Walks and outings around the Žermanice Reservoir are also possible. This allows the options on and by the water to be combined in different ways: a stay can focus on the grassy shoreline, a boat trip or an activity around the body of water.
Hiking and Cycling
The blue-marked hiking trail 2239 between Frýdek–Místek and Český Těšín passes through Soběšovice. For hikers, the village is therefore part of a connection between these two towns. For cyclists, the established cycle route 6005 runs through Soběšovice on the Frýdek–Místek – Žermanice – Frýdek–Místek loop. The loop shape places a different emphasis from the hiking trail: it leads from Frýdek–Místek via Žermanice and back to Frýdek–Místek. This allows you to distinguish between a connection linking two towns and a designated cycling loop without conflating the two types of outing.
Views and Local History
The Soběšovice observation tower has a viewing platform at a height of 17.5 metres, accessible via 45 steps. From the tower, you can see the panorama of the Beskids and the dam of the Žermanice Reservoir. The viewpoint therefore combines a clearly defined climb with a landscape view encompassing both the mountains and the reservoir. If you would like to include an additional viewpoint in your day alongside the water or trails, the tower provides a standalone destination with a clear focus: from above, the panorama and the dam take centre stage.
The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary is part of the local history. It is located in Soběšovice, in the cadastral area of Pitrov, and is a monument of local significance as well as a local landmark. The site of the former church of Soběšovice is flooded by the waters of the Žermanice Reservoir. Together with the observation tower, swimming area and routes, this creates a local character in which nature, activity and history are interconnected. You can focus on the reservoir while still incorporating trails, panoramic views and the local past.
