Pyšely: Castle, Loreto Chapel and Nature in the Posázaví Region
Accommodation in Pyšely
Pyšely combines a medieval and early modern town centre with castle architecture, sacred architectural details, views across the Posázaví Region, and an educational trail through the forest and along ponds. If you would like to balance culture and landscape during your trip, you will find several clearly distinct points of interest here – from an archaeologically significant local history to golf and nature observation.
Castle and town centre bearing traces of many eras
The medieval and early modern town centre of Pyšely is an area with documented or well-founded suspected archaeological finds. Pyšely Castle stands at the highest point on the southern side of the town square. The castle complex includes a section of the surrounding wall with a gate, an adjoining farm building, a park, and a forest park. Pyšely Castle was built in the Renaissance style in the second half of the 16th century and was later remodelled in the Baroque and Neoclassical styles. The different construction phases make the castle a particularly tangible example of how a historic site has changed over several eras.
Church, Loreto Chapel and views across the Posázaví Region
The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is the oldest surviving monument in Pyšely. It preserves a bricked-up Gothic entrance and has a medieval bell dating from 1461. Another prominent destination is the Loreto Chapel. Count František Antonín Halleweil had it built in 1699. The chapel stands on a hill above Pyšely and offers impressive views of the Posázaví landscape. This gives visitors on a culturally focused stay a choice between historic details in the town centre and expansive landscape views.
Golf and an educational trail through forest and landscape
Loreta Golf Club Pyšely has an 18-hole championship course, a spacious driving range, and an extensive short-game area. The educational trail U golfového hřiště Pyšely offers another way to experience the surroundings. It follows forest roads and footpaths and is marked with signposts or green-and-white educational-trail markers. The trail provides information about forest fauna, forest flora, and ponds. When planning your trip, you can therefore choose between golf, a marked trail, and visits to sites of cultural and historical interest.
Important note about the museum
The Pyšely Museum is closed until further notice for technical and operational reasons. It should therefore not currently be planned as an accessible point of interest. For orientation on site, the town centre, castle and church building, the Loreto Chapel, and the outdoor areas described above remain the main points of interest.
