Petroupim combines wooded uplands, stream floodplains, marked trails and notable traces of local history. This creates a destination where you can combine outdoor activity with small cultural discoveries. The most distinctive features are Krásná Hora hill, cycling route 0068 and the historic landmarks in the village.

Landscape between forests and stream floodplains

Within the cadastral area of the municipality of Petroupim, the 519.6-metre-high Krásná Hora hill lies amid a spruce forest. The northern wooded part of the Petroupim area has high landscape value. The floodplains of the streams in the southern part of the Petroupim area also have high landscape value. Thus, wooded uplands and water-shaped landscapes exist side by side within the area, without Petroupim being defined by just one type of landscape.

Hiking and cycling on marked trails

Marked hiking trails run through the Petroupim area. In addition, a hiking route from Chocerady via Bělčice and Kozmice to Benešov passes through Petroupim. For cyclists, cycling route 0068 is relevant: it follows a dedicated road from Okrouhlice in the south to Soběhrdy via Petroupim and runs away from heavily trafficked routes. The Petroupim landscape is used mainly for cycling and hiking. Marked hiking trails cross the area, while cycling route 0068 provides a separate connection from Okrouhlice to Soběhrdy and runs away from heavily trafficked routes. Krásná Hora is also a destination for walks, with a covered seating area where you can rest.

Krásná Hora and the history of the village

The local monuments in Petroupim include the stone Konírna F. F. d‘ Este on Krásná Hora hill. The hill thus connects natural and cultural themes, as the landscape, the stone Konírna and the traditional ascent offer different points of interest. The hill is also the destination of a traditional New Year's ascent. An old cross stands at the junction of field paths and footpaths to Petroupim; it has stood there since the time of the Lords Kostka of Postupice. The first written mention of Petroupim dates from 1318; at that time, the knight Beneš of Petroupim lived there. The former school building in Petroupim was ceremonially opened and consecrated on 1 April 1912.
