Netvořice between Local History and Landscape

Netvořice combines vivid local history with unique museum collections and a distinctive landscape feature. The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was rebuilt and consecrated in 1753. For current travel planning, it is important to note that it is closed until further notice due to structural damage. The church therefore remains a defining part of Netvořice’s history, but an interior visit should not currently be included in your plans.

Museums with Unusual Collections

The Městské muzeum Netvořice offers several specific points of interest for a cultural and historical exploration. These include a collection of 580 pieces of stoneware from an 18th-century factory in Týnec. The museum also features an exhibition about the forced resettlement of Netvořice and its surrounding area during the Second World War. A prototype of the Barták high-wheel bicycle adds a technical exhibit to the collection.

Visits to the Městské muzeum Netvořice can also be arranged outside opening hours by telephone appointment. This is particularly relevant for personal planning if you do not want to limit your visit exclusively to regular opening times.

A second, significantly more specialised focus is the Muzeum smaltu a smaltovaného nádobí. There you can see a collection of enamelware and enamelled dishes. Visitors can learn about the history of enamel products; Mrs Šmídová guides visitors through the museum and provides expert explanations. A craft market is also held there every August. This allows you to combine your visit with a seasonal event without reducing the local history to a single theme.

Architectural History, Memorial Sites and Blábolák Pond

The secular history of Netvořice can also be traced through specific dates. Sokolovna Netvořice was ceremonially opened on 3 August 1923. Regular film screenings were held in this building from 1930 onwards. Sbor Spasitele in Netvořice was ceremonially opened on 28 September 1937. In addition, Netvořice is home to the memorial “Pomník Obětem 1. a 2. světové války”.

As a landscape landmark, Blábolák lies on the western edge of Netvořice. It is the largest pond there and provides a tranquil contrast to the museums and historic buildings.
