Czech castle invites for wine tasting

Located in North Bohemia Velké Březno castle traditionally invites tourists for Czech wine tastings. This tradition of organizing wine tastings and fair on the last Saturday of May appeared here more than twenty years ago. Wine fair, where will be presented the best products of Czech and Moravian wineries, will be opened at 9 am on May 26 in the castle courtyard. Wine tasting for the guests will begin at the same time.

Around the Velké Březno castle is located a beautiful English park, which was founded at the beginning of the last century. Guests of the celebration will be able to take a pleasant walk along its alleys with a glass of fine wine. The program also includes performances of musical groups and special activities for children. Wine fair and tasting will end at 17.00 in the evening, but, despite such a short time, all guests will surely get an unforgettable experience. Ticket price for all events of the fest is 260 CZK (about 10 Euros). In addition to the ticket every visitor will receive a glass of wine.

Velké Březno is one of the youngest and small historic castles of the Czech Republic. It was built in 1842-1856 for the burggraf of the Czech kingdom Karl Hotek. Designed initially in the late Empire style it was rebuilt during the late 19th - early 20th centuries into a magnificent neo-Renaissance-style estate. Then a picturesque park was founded around the castle. Well-known Dresden architect of that time Ernst Fleischer supervised the building process.

After Czechoslovakia got independence in the early twentieth century Velké Březno was nationalized and turned into a Higher Party School. However, currently it attracts tourists as a museum of architecture, art and painting of the XIX century with excellent exhibitions.
