The skyline over Brno, South Moravia, is aflame now at night as the 12th International Fireworks Show and Competition Ignis Brunensis will be taking place until June, 5 as a part of Brno–City festival. The leading companies from the Czech Republic, Austria, Spain, and Portugal specialized on fireworks and pyrotechnic are to compete during this event.

Ignis Brunensis is one of the number of the events taking place in the festival's framework but it is the most important and spectacular. OndÅ™ej Morávek, the festival’s external relations manager, commented: “It’s the largest and most significant display in the region of Central and Eastern Europe and is in what some people call the ‘Formula 1’ of world fireworks displays.”

The event has already started on May, 21 but the fire shows will be presented every night for a week so it is still not late to book accomodation in Brno and visit it on family trip or as a weekend getaway. The closing ceremony will be held in the Brno’s old town near the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul. The guests will be able to have 120 minutes of fun observing fireworks of different colours, shapes and variations.

In general, the list of events provided by Moravian catital is rather long and there is something for everyone. One can visit various historical and cultural exhibitions and events. Some weekend trips over the region are available for holiday makers and romantically minded persons. The International Children's Day celebration could also be a very special experience. And funs of vehicles and tecnology can visit Autotec & Autosalon Brno 2010 that is to be held from June 5 until June 10.
