Nearly 300 Shopping Centers Function In Prague

Aktualne.cz reports that about three hundred shopping centers of various sizes are currently operated in the Czech Republic. The majority of them are fashion clothes and footwear stores or restaurants of different types.

According to a survey conducted by Incoma GfK the largest number belongs to the category of small shop clusters, whose floorspace spans between five and twenty thousand square meters. There are about 170 such outlets in the country which is more than a half of the total number.

Next come small business parks, which are different shops under one roof but not actual malls. There are about 50 of them and they tend to locate on the outskirts. Giant shopping malls are few – in the Czech Republic there are only four objects having area of over 80 thousand square meters.

Experts expect that such a status quo is likely to remain and the total number of outlets is very likely to be the same in the nearest future. Developer companies currently prefer so-called retail parks rather than traditional shopping centers with an indoor shopping gallery full of small shops.
