Serial production of the greenest Škoda’s model – organic fuel powered Fabia GreenLine II – has recently started on the plant located in Mlada Boleslav, the Central Bohemian Region. The new version is to be available for customers to look at at Škoda’s showrooms in the beginning of July this year.
Fabia GreenLine II is the first Škoda’s model equipped with a start & stop system that automatically turns off the engine, for instance, after stopping at traffic lights and starts it up after a foot releases the clutch pedal. The vehicle is also to be equipped with a system that recharges battery with use of recovered braking energy.
The new eco-friendly Fabia is also less thirsty than traditional versions – in mixed mode it burns only 3.4 litres of organic diesel per 100 km. And it emits only 89 g of CO2 per 1 km, which could be a serious advantage in those countries where low CO2 emissions value gives right for tax extemptions.
Under the bonnet of the Fabia GreenLine II is a three-cylinder high-pressure direct-injection 1.2 TDI CR DPF/55 kW.
Note: The Škoda Fabia is a very popular supermini model produced by Škoda Auto since 1999. Originally it was available in three versions - hatchback, estate (Fabia Combi), and saloon (Fabia Sedan), but currently no saloons are manufactured. Fabia shares the platform with other VW models - Volkswagen Polo and SEAT Ibiza. The current second generation was launched in 2007. The vehicle grew slightly larger than the Mk I.
