Online Registration For Long Term Visas Applicants

(Society News)

On June 1, 2009 the Czech Republic Foreign Ministry launched Visapoint system designed for online registration to apply for long term entry visas (more 90 days of stay). The purpose of new service is making the whole process of obtaining a visa more understandable for the applicants and eliminating possible abuse.

This project is scheduled to release in two stages. In the beginning it is available for citizens of China, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Thailand and Uzbekistan. Later it will be launched for people from Belarus, Georgia, Ukraine, Russia, Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Moldova, Serbia, Albania and Turkey.

An applicant will have to make an appointment for an interview in consular department of the Czech embassy in his/her native country. Long term visas are usually obtained by people planning to study, work or start a business in the Czech Republic.

According to new regulations, applicants from some countries, for instance, Kenya, Moldova, Ukraine, Vietnam, Congo, Mongolia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Tadjikistan and Turkmenistan will have to provide proper medical certificates in order to prove that they are not HIV positive or not infected with infectious deseases. Thus, this measure is aimed to provide additional protection to the citizens of the Czech Republic.

To register online applicants should visit Visapoint system website at www.visapoint.eu.
