Czech Radio has been conducting a music contest named Czechs Rock Europe dedicated to the Czech Republic’s EU presidency. The media partners of the event are Rock&Pop magazine and the Czech Cultural Centre located in Berlin.

The aim of this competition is to choose a rock group that will represent its native country at a rock festival in Berlin’s Kleisthaus, which is scheduled on June 5th, 2009. The band named a winner of the contest will also have a chance to perform in Prague. The concert will be broadcasted by Czech Radio.

The entry is still open and music collectives are encouraged to mail their records. More than 230 music collectives have already submitted entries. Radio.cz published the list of ten finalists picked up by the Czech Radio jury so people could vote by email and select the winner.

The votes are received by April 30th, 2009 at info@ceskyrockdoevropy.cz email box. Only one vote for one band is permitted from one email address.

Exhibition of unique photographs of Vaclav Havel opened in Prague
Photo exhibition dedicated to the last president of Czechoslovakia and the first president of the Czech Republic, Vaclav Havel, was opened in Prague today. From June 25 to July 6 its visitors will be able to see unique photos provided by the journalistic agency ÄŒTK. On these photos Vaclav Havel appears not only as a president, but as a vibrant, eccentric and temperamental personality.
