Vaclav Havel Is Getting Better

Vaclav Havel
Vaclav Havel

Vaclav Havel, famous Czechoslovak dissident leader and former Czech president, who was hospitalized in rather serious but stable condition after undergoing minor throat surgery in the middle of January may be released from hospital this week, more likely, on Thursday.

Prague Motol Hospital spokeswoman Eva Jurinova said: "If his condition ... allows for it, we could theoretically discharge him to home care on Thursday afternoon." Although she is not sure that the situation couldn’t get to worse.

Mr. Havel’s respiratory problems dates back to the years he used to serve in Communist jails. He also used to be a chain smoker, which also worsened his health. In 1997 he lost half a lung due to cancer and also suffers from chronic bronchitis.

We wish Czech ex-president fast and complete recovery.
