4th Prague Short Film Festival

Annual Prague Short Film Festival will take place for the forth times this year during the period of November 12 to 16, 2008 in capital’s SvÄ›tozor cinema. The event is arranged by the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival producers. In the framework of this festival the best short fiction films of up to 20 minutes long created during the last year will be presented.

Like before, this year the best short films created mostly by tiny independent production companies will be presented in three competition and nine non-competition sections. The filmmakers from all over the world will be demonstrated but this year’s focus will be on short films from France and Argentina. On the whole, this year 18 competition films from Europe, South and North America, and Oceania have been selected among nearly 1,000 submissions.

This festival’s competition section feature will be short movie Eve directed by Academy Award nominated American actress Natalie Portman starring famous actors Lauren Bacall and Ben Gazzar. The Czech Films subsection will comprise four short films created by young moviemakers mostly from Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts situated in Prague. The winners will be awarded the main prize of EUR 5,000 and two honorable mentions.

From June 25 to July 6 its visitors will be able to see unique photos provided by the journalistic agency ÄŒTK. On these photos Vaclav Havel appears not only as a president, but as a vibrant, eccentric and temperamental personality.
